Logicalis Australia helps AFCA reimagine traditional workplace, optimising technology, and empowering employees

Australia, Aug 22, 2022

Melbourne, Australia – 10 August 2022Logicalis Australia, an IT solutions and managed services provider, has successfully delivered a future-proofed digital workplace solution for the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). The engagement meant that AFCA could challenge the traditional view of the office, thereby enhancing employee experience, and encouraging a culture of collaboration and innovation.

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority replaced three previous Ombudsman schemes. As a result, AFCA experienced significant growth as an organisation in a short period of time and outgrew their premises in Melbourne and Sydney. The organisation took a people-first approach in shaping their new workplace, with a clear goal to drive collaboration, innovation, and productivity through the creation of a flexible and agile environment.

Patrick Williamson, Chief Information Officer, AFCA, states: “We wanted to break away from traditional workspaces, where people had assigned desks and went to the same spot every day. Instead, we wanted to create neighbourhoods that would let people easily move around, work with project teams, and locate themselves according to their tasks for the day, not the location they were used to. It was important for our culture to bring everyone together in a more comprehensive way.”

Underpinning their modern workplace aspirations was the need to update aging technology and refresh their network architecture, keeping security at the core. AFCA made the strategic decision to partner with a single vendor, Logicalis Australia, for improved visibility and control.

James Tod, Information Technology Operations Manager, AFCA comments: “The Logicalis solution was built on Cisco, and it covered everything from the front door to the back door including wireless access, switching, routing, firewalls, and everything in between. We now can manage and control our environment easily, and it all integrates seamlessly.”

The alignment of people and culture to a modern workplace has been shown to have a positive impact on morale, productivity, and talent retention. It also creates clear business benefits with improved customer service and increased innovation. James Tod added, “Logicalis knew that this project would only be deemed successful if the staff fully adopted and embraced the technology and new ways of working. Logicalis worked closely with AFCA to make sure we got every element of the change management right.”

On working with customers like AFCA Lisa Fortey, National Sales Manager, Logicalis Australia adds: “We are helping customers to shape the ways they enable their employees to work, focused on human-centric employee experiences powered by digital workplace technology. Businesses need to follow AFCA’s lead and make use of modern technologies to create flexible, adaptable, and secure workplaces that provide employees with the right environment to thrive.”
