Anthony Woodward recently shared his views and insights on the dynamic landscape of data security and governance within Australian organisations.

Anthony emphasised the critical importance of assessing core assets requiring protection, which shape data security processes and highlighted the potential gap between regulatory requirements and business processes, revealing vulnerabilities.

The discussion also questioned why organisations retain personal identification data, revealing issues linked to data knowledge gaps, legacy systems, and outdated processes, underlining the need for modernised data management.
Anthony also acknowledged the positive shifts in data security and governance, including increased board-level discussions in organisations, indicating a heightened focus on data security.

To tackle the challenge of prioritising governance amid daily operations, Anthony recommended a pragmatic approach, advising organisations to determine risk profiles and optimise data security by storing non-critical data.
Anthony further emphasised the impact of cybersecurity on daily operations, proposing collaboration with managed service providers that seamlessly integrate security into their platforms, and help be adaptive in their approach.
